Base Camp and a stormy approach!

A.P. 1 (Dec. 1 – 20, 2018)

The group is already at Base Camp since yesterday. They had a rough storm the second day of the approach. About a foot of fresh powder awaited for them next morning at Base Camp and during the approach, which is a bit unusual.

They all made it yesterday afternoon to Base Camp at Plaza Argentina (13,800′). The group is doing well, in schedule and taking a rest day today. Tomorrow the team will be making a carry to Camp 1 at 16,300’. The route goes up a gentle trail on the rocky moraine-covered Relinchos Glacier situated between Cerro Aconcagua and Cerro Ameghino.

The picture above shows the snow that the storm left behind at Base Camp yesterday.

We will be posting more updates soon!
