A big success to close the season
Nine climbers and 3 guides reached the summit of Mt Aconcagua yesterday!
A great team success that marks the end of an excellent season, with all 15 expeditions reaching the summit.
Guide Jacob led the team to the summit and back to camp in a bright day yesterday. They will go down to Plaza de Mulas today, to complete the Aconcagua traverse, and then hike out to Penitentes. They will be back in Mendoza by Monday.

Big day tomorrow
The team is going to the summit tomorrow. They are ready and anxious at High Camp (6,000). THey will get up early -the guides at least one hour before the rest, to melt many pots with snow for breakfast and for the day. THen they will leave the tents before the sun is up, a very cold hour or so before the sun warms them up. And we will have to wait until tomorrow to know how it went from there...Stay tuned

Chopper Camp (18,000 ft)
The team is resting at Camp II, or Chopper Camp, after a carry of gear and food to High Camp. This means they have reached six thousand meters! They are going to move to High Camp and then go for the summit on Friday, probably. Everyone there is ok, said guide Jacob. Leaving Base Camp
Jacob and his crew just left base camp, headed for Camp I (16,000 ft). Jacob called before hitting the trail and said everything is fine up there. They rested and have already carried some gear to a cache in Camp I. They are going to begin the moving- resting-carrying- moving system now, to progress from BC to High Camp, from where they will go to the summit and then back to High Camp.
